Hello All,
I know I know, its been awhile, but im here to tell you what's been going on. First of all let me say that this offseason has truly been a blessing. I had no idea that being home and away from football would be this great. I have kept football as a priority as ive worked out everyday and I feel like I am in the best shape of my life. I have been working with two trainers this year: Steve Marsh handles all of my speed and agility work while April Grant has been great in strengthening my core and getting my abs looking right. I truly feel like i am preparing myself and putting in the work required to have a great season.
God has truly been good to me during this offseason, so I would love to tell you a little bit about whats going on.
As many of you may know back in February I resigned with my team the Montreal Alouettes. I have to admit I was on the brink of free agency and wondering what else if anything was out there for me. With a lot of prayer, advice, and thought I felt at peace with giving Montreal my services for a little while longer. I am blessed to be apart of an organization that wants me. Being wanted in this business is a big deal so I had to take that into consideration. I know many of you may ask what about the NFL? Well, I thought long and hard and explored those options, but truly believe that Gods plan for me right now is in Montreal. So, look forward to #85 in the same colors in 09.
On March 28th and 29th, I held my first ever football clinic in Greenville SC. I teamed with the Golden Strip YMCA of Simpsonville in hopes of doing my part in giving back to the community. It was a great time, many of my former teammates and friends helped out to make the camp a success. It is my vision to help the youth of the local areas in which I am a part of. I want to let them know that there are professional athletes out there that want to see them do well, and are willing to come back and give them the time and attention that they need. Professional athletes are getting a bad reputation these days so i want to show them that there are some good guys left out there. Although we had bad weather and were forced to move into the gym I feel like we as players and former players projected just what I had invisioned.
Those are two big things that took place this offseason, but there is more and there will be more. I want to encourage everyone out there to charish and put value in relationships with people. During my time here I have formed so many new relationships. Remember the saying, " you are the company you keep". One can tell who you are or what kind of person you are by the people you are with. I have been blessed to have new people in my life that lift me up and make me a better person but at the same time keeping me grounded. So now I have great teammates, as well as great people back home in my corner.
I hope that gives you something to think about, see you next time.
Be Blessed,
B
