From John Teer

Glad to see you are msking it! WIsh we still had you and West at Furman! Do you still keep in contact with anyone at Furman? How do you think Lamb will do as teh coach - both in recruiting and coaching? I would appreciate your opinion!

John, thanks for writing in. First, let me say that Furman is dear to my heart. I have to thank them for giving me a chance to live my dream. I believe Furman will do great this year. With the new schemes look for a different look out of the Paladins. Coach Lamb is a great coach. He is a players coach and a great guy all together. I wish Furman the best.

From Rob:

i would like to know if u had any advice or tips on or how to open doors to play football in he nfl or canadian league. if u went to college but didnt play college football, if u knew or had information on playing football professionally thanks

Rob, I have to be honest, not playing college football and going to the Pros is a difficult task but not impossible. Plenty of guys have done it. Antonio Gates, Marcus Pollard, and plenty more. What I would do is train as hard as you can and attend an open workout for CFL or Arena (AFL) football teams in a town near you. If you can get noticed then you will be ok. So just do your best to stick out amongst everyone else.

From Cheryl Brown:

Brian, my son is playng with Georgia Southern. He got redshirted this year (first year freshman) is that a good thing or a bad thing? Just needed someone to answer that question who has some real experience. Take care Your mother's ex-coworker

Cheryl, first of all I’m stomaching talking about Georgia Southern since they were my rival for all my years in college. Just kidding. If your son is redshirted it’s not a bad thing. I was redshirted my freshman year at Furman. Redshirting can be very useful for a young guy new to college. It will allow him the chances to get used to the college seen, workload, and the reality of college football. It will also allow him to workout and improve his body in preparation for the season to come. Keep in mind he will have 4 years to play, no need to rush them a long. Taking a year to prepare for the next year is very valuable. I could possibly say I am where I am partly because of redshirting.
